  1. Essentials of organic chemistry: for students of pharmacy, medicinal chemistry and biological chemistry - Dewick, Paul M. c2006

Book Essential This is the new recommended textbook for the module, and students are strongly encouraged to purchase their own copy early in the course. It covers all your organic chemistry requirements for the first two years of the course, and there are also chapters that lay the foundations for third year medicinal chemistry modules. This text is specially designed for the needs of Pharmacy students, and provides a thorough grounding in fundamental chemical principles. It presents only material most relevant to pharmacists, and should thus prove more user-friendly than organic chemistry textbooks we have previously recommended. It also contains a chapter of worked examples showing typical examination problems and how to approach them. NB. This is a key text. NB. This is recommended for purchase

  2. Organic chemistry - Solomons, T. W. Graham, Fryhle, Craig B. c2008

Book Recommended Please check UNMCLOC for other editions held by Library. Being an organic chemistry text it has more extensive coverage than Pharmacy students actually need. Therefore, areas for private study should be carefully selected; it will be very obvious from the lectures which parts are relevant. Many other texts are satisfactory but this is particularly good.

  3. A primer to mechanism in organic chemistry - Sykes, Peter 1995
